How To Buy Your Next Pair Of Running Shoes For Less

Here is our Eight Step Guide on how you can find yourself a real bargain and pick up either the best priced or cheapest running shoes around.

Firstly, one thing to mention is that you may think you are getting a bargain by buying a pair of cheap running shoes but this can be a false economy and cause injury. For instance they may wear down quicker or not be suited to your running style. However we are also not saying that by paying a premium you are getting anymore. That is why we always recommend that if you are a first time runner that you go to a specialist running store or follow our buying guide and always read user reviews.

The word CHEAP by definition means, low in cost or relatively inexpensive, in running shoe terms this means one of three things:

Under 40 for a pair of genuinely cheap running shoes i.e. their RRP is probably less than 50.
More than 30% off the RRP
The cheapest on the market
Ok so now you know what we mean by cheap running shoes, how do you find them?

Tip 1: Older = Cheaper
If you can't afford the latest running shoes take a look at the previous version. Often the way to find cheap running shoes and to pick up a bargain is to buy an older model. By older we don't mean a few years but a few months. For instance Asics bring out a Summer/Spring and an Autumn/Winter range. Often the only difference in the shoes is the color but the price may be as much as 30.00

Tip 2: Do The Opposite
Just like clothes when the weather changes retailers have sales, the same applies for running shoes. For example in the Summer when the weather is dry trail running shoes are often cheaper. So you may as well buy them when they are cheap and put them away until the weather changes.

Tip 3: Deal of the Week
Every Monday we scour the web for the cheapest / best value football boots. Our retailers let us know first when a deal is arriving. So if you are prepared to move fast you can pick up a 60-80 pair of trainers for less than 40!

Tip 4: Top 10 Running Shoes
Visit our Cheapest Running Shoes page. On it you will find information about the 10 cheapest running shoes on our database of 1000+ shoes. They start from just 19.99

Tip 5: Go Offline
We'd always recommend that you take a look in your local shops. This is for two reasons, firstly to check your size and make sure that you are happy with the fit. Secondly, sometimes local retailers have some bargains on offer. However always check the price first. On general you will save at least 5 online.

Tip 6: ebay
Occasionally you can pick up cheap running shoes on ebay i.e. unwanted shoes brought as a present. However always check the sellers feedback and make sure they accept returns. Be warned sometimes on ebay you may think you are getting a bargain but the price is actually higher than on Ransacker. Always check our price first - you've got nothing to loose.

Tip 7 Special Offers / Vouchers
Have a hunt around of special offers or discount vouchers before you purchase. The easiest way to do this is just to Google the retailers name and the word voucher i.e. Sportsshoes Voucher. You never know what it may throw up! If there are any special offers about we will try and find them first and let you know on our blog. Also, check out Runners World occasionally retailers such as Sweatshop insert promotional flyers with discounts.

Tip 8: Compare the market
To find the best price takes some work but hopefully we can help ease the process. We compare over 1000 running shoes and 20 retailers to find you the cheapest running shoes. However if you do find the trainers you want cheaper elsewhere let us know. Not only will we try and beat the price we will also contact the retailer to see if they want to be listed on Ransacker.
